Leigh Blum | Village Director

Leigh and her husband, Tim, have been foster parents with the City of Virginia Beach since 2019. They have learned first-hand the importance of a Jesus-centered community as they care for children who come into their home. Leigh has felt a calling to create an atmosphere for foster parents to come together, feel understood and walk away encouraged and equipped to live out their calling.

✨What barriers do you often see foster families face?✨

“Being a foster parent can often feel very isolating if you don’t have a community of other foster parents around you! You often get comments from outsiders such as ‘I could never do that’ or ‘how do you not get too attached’ and it can be hard to constantly hear those statements while trying to follow God’s call to love vulnerable kiddos and their families! Having people in your corner who you can meet with regularly and they really ‘get it’ makes foster parenting more sustainable. My prayer is that The Village keeps foster parents on this journey for longer than if they were trying to do it alone and without a Christ centered community to support them!”
